Luke Mahendra is a financial services executive who is currently Head of Cash Management for Barclays Capital.
Previously, over a period of 19 years, he worked his way up from very junior level to become an Executive Director, Head of Cash Management and Treasure Operations, for Morgan Stanley, one of the top investment American banks. God gave him favour in his work.
But during these recent economically turbulent times Luke found himself made redundant and without work, wondering what God’s plan was for his life. With the situation being particular difficult in the banking sector he was not even sure whether he would secure another job! God proved faithful and unexpectedly Luke was offered his current senior executive position.
Luke is originally from Sri Lanka, and speaks Tamil. His parents were ‘nominal’ Christians, and during his childhood their family attended the local Anglican Church in Jaffna, Sri Lanka. Religion did not mean much to Luke, but when he experienced God’s power through a pastor visiting his area from the City of Columbo, he committed his life to Christ, and became very active in speaking about his new found faith. Today he is involved in ministry within the Tamil speaking churches in London.
Luke is married with 2 children aged 10 and 14, and lives in London with his German-born wife. A life-long cricket fan, he is very proud that he was awarded the ‘All Island Runner up to the best batsman award’ in 1976.
Ian McCormack, originally from New Zealand, was a young hedonist, bent on enjoying life when he was stung by 5 Box jellyfish while diving off the coast of Mauritius.
Rushed to the nearest hospital he was recorded as dead for a period of 15 minutes, during which time he had a “life after death” experience which transformed his life.
